How to Prepare Seed Bed? and its Advantages

For better crop production some essentials are required. Seed bed preparation is one of them.

   As strength of any building depends on base.

The whole crop depends on soil bed.

Importance of soil:

Soil provides nutrients, minerals,water and every essential requirement to the crops. Root zone of crop transport food and minerals to the different parts of plant where needed. Two types of tissues are present in plants which are following.

• Xylem tissues   for the conductance of water and minerals.
• Phloem tissues  for the supply of food to all parts of plant.

Preparation of Seed Bed:

A soft soil with all nutrition is fit for growing crop. Some tillage tools and tillage implements are must required for preparation of seed bed. Hard pan is a thick layer of soil that is necessary to break to provide proper aeration to seed. Remains of previous crops may damage the seed so that they should be removed from soil. Tillage implements like disc harrow, rotavator, cultivator and some others are used to invert and mix the soil. These implements break the large size stubles and convert the soil in a fine pattern as required for the germination of seed.

• Increases the availability of nutrients.
• Roots can grow easily.

• Increases the germination rate.
